Oak provides the weight and durability expected of a substantial outdoor table. Timber selection, jointing, water shedding and exterior fixings are considered as part of the same construction. Alternative durable timber may be discussed for larger schemes where technically or commercially appropriate.

Regular inspection should include the table top, seats, frame, fixings, feet and any anchoring points. Surface weathering does not automatically require replacement; suitable components can be repaired or renewed when the construction and condition allow.
