Product overview

A sound gate for a working entrance

A five-bar gate must suit more than the width of the opening. Its weight, daily use, ground levels and hanging geometry determine the sections, clearances and ironmongery required. We record these points in the quotation so the gate and its supporting components are specified together.

Suitable for

  • Estate and farm entrances
  • Fields, paddocks and vineyards
  • Countryside and conservation sites
  • Private properties requiring a substantial timber gate

Materials & construction

Good timber, clearly stated.

British-grown oak is preferred where it is suitable, available and commercially practical. European oak may be proposed where it provides a better fit for the order. Exterior ironmongery and fixings are selected around the gate weight, exposure and expected use, and the proposed materials are stated in the quotation.

Maintenance & repair

Made for maintenance and repair.

Hinges, latches, posts, clearances and water-shedding details should be inspected periodically. Where practical, ironmongery and individual timber components can be adjusted, repaired or replaced without discarding the complete gate.
